Upgrading AltiGen IP Phone firmware

AltiGen IP Phone firmware can be updated via TFTP. While any TFTP server should work, the recommend TFTP server to use is TFTPNat which is provided by AltGen along with the firmware itself. The below procedure can be used to initiate the IP phone update from the phone itself.

  1. Download the latest firmware from the dealer web site.
  2. Extract the zip file containing the firmware.
  3. Run TFTPNat.exe with the firmware download.
  4. Press the Menu button on the IP Phone.
  5. Use the button to scroll to System, then press the Enter button.
  6. Scroll to TFTP Server, then press Enter.
  7. Enter the IP address of the compuer running TFTPNat, using the * key to input periods.  Press Enter after the address has been typed to save th data and return to the previous screen.
  8. Scroll down to Boot Download and press Enter.
  9. Ensure Boot Download is set to Yes. If not, arrow down to Yes and press Enter.This will cause the IP phone to download the firmware from the TFTP server on the next reboot.
  10. Press the left arrow button twice to return to the phone's main display.
  11. Reboot the phone by dialing * * 3 with the reciever on-hook, then press the Enter button.
  12. Once the IP phone is rebooted, all LED lights come on for a brief time.
  13. The LCD screen displays [BOOTING] on the first line.
  14. On the second line of the LCD screen, the following messages are displayed in succession:
    • CHECK MEMORY (RAM checking state)
    • CHECK FW (Firmware checking state)
    • INIT NETWORK
    • LOADING FW...
    • LOADING NOW.
    • BOOT DONE
    • INITIALIZING
  15. You may verify the new version of firmware: Press the Menu button, scroll to SYSTEM and press Enter, scroll to Version Info and press Enter.
